Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
Text entered in a search box is sent to the outside provider operating that tool so it can process the query and return results. Ohio Court Docket does not keep or log the terms entered through those partner searches.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to the site may be retained so staff can respond and keep track of the exchange. It is not shared beyond the organization unless disclosure is legally required.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the server may record technical details about the visit, including:
- The time and date of each page view
- The referring site, when one is available
- Pages opened and the time spent on them
- Browser name and version
- Device type and operating system
- The IP address assigned to the device
Cookies and Analytics
Small cookie files may be stored on your device so analytics can measure broad traffic patterns, such as which pages are used most. Browser settings can block cookies. Some features may work differently when cookies are disabled.
What We Do With This Data
- Improving page performance and fixing technical faults
- Forwarding search requests to the provider that operates the selected tool
- Understanding which reference pages visitors use
- Keeping the site available
- Displaying advertising that may relate to visitor interests
No Court-Record Data on File
Ohio Court Docket does not host or compile a database of case files or personal docket information. It gives general directions to Ohio courts and local clerks. There is no unified public search for ordinary county trial dockets; Supreme Court ECMS and the Court of Claims Odyssey Portal each cover only their own court. Judicial case access follows Ohio's current Rules of Superintendence, including Sup.R. 11.09-11.17. The Ohio Public Records Act, R.C. 149.43, addresses records held by public offices. Visitor information collected here is not assembled into a consumer report, and the site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
External companies operate the site's search boxes. Information submitted to them is covered by each provider's policies and retention practices, not solely by this policy. Review the provider's terms and privacy notice before entering search details.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to an Ohio county clerk, court portal, legal aid group, or third-party search service. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy terms apply. Read them before providing personal information.
Some advertising partners may track activity across websites for ad selection. Any such tracking is handled through their systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Information may be shared with:
- Government or law-enforcement authorities when a valid legal demand requires disclosure
- Ad networks that serve advertising on site pages
- Analytics providers that measure visits and site performance
- Search companies that receive a query entered in their tool
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used to protect collected information. Internet systems cannot be guaranteed free of risk, so no promise can be made that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If a minor's information was submitted, the site can be asked to remove it.
Your Data Rights
The Ohio Public Records Act, R.C. 149.43, governs qualifying public-office records; it does not describe information held by this private site. Visitors may ask the site to:
- Correct information that is inaccurate
- Request a copy of information maintained about them
- Ask that personal data be deleted
- Opt out of certain data-processing practices
